These cars were built for a Second Avenue line that was never built. Only ten cars were built, the forerunner of a large fleet of R11s that was also never built. The ten cars were rebuilt in the 1960s and reclassified R34. They were retired in the mid 1970s, and one survives in the Transit Museum.
This 2-Car set consists of one powered and one nonpowered car at a reduced combination price for those building a fleet of these cars. Our R11 cars are also available individually (#4001 and #4002) for those wanting just single units or for adding on to your fleet.
